Racer Registration

This page lists the information you will need to provide when you register to race. We recommend that you gather the information in advance of registering to make the process go more smoothly. If you entered the race previously, the form will fill in some (but not all!) information from your most-recent entry, which you can then revise.

Contact Information

Contact information is automatically filled in from your account. If you need to change your address, phone numbers or email address, please do so by updating your account information (accessed from your dashboard when you log in).  Additional information requested includes:

  • Alternate Email (optional)
  • Employer (optional)
  • Occupation (optional, but recommended for your bio in the program)
  • School Attending (required if flying in the Collegiate competition; otherwise, optional, but recommended for your bio in the program)

  • Full Name (required) – all racers' names must match pilot certificate and will be submitted to the FAA. For U.S.-certificated pilots, must match name as listed on FAA.gov.
  • Nickname (optional) - this is the name that will appear on your name badge, in the program, and on all official reports.
  • Races flown (required) - this is the number of Air Race Classic races in which you have flown. If you raced before, the form will "guess" a number, which you can revise.
  • Weight (required) - this is needed for the handicap flight
  • Date of Birth (required)
  • First Time Racer - Yes or No (required)

Aviation Experience

  • Certificate # (required) - number on FAA pilot certificate or, if licensed in another country, on certificate from issuing government agency.

  • Total Hours (required) - rounded to the nearest whole number. All teammates must show evidence of a minimum 5 hours total time in an airplane during Credentials Check-in at the Start.

  • Last Flight Review Date (warning if left blank) - the date of your last flight review, rating or certificate issued. You can leave this blank and submit your registration. But if you will be pilot or copilot, you will need to show evidence of a flight review, new rating or new certificate issued during Credentials Check-in.
  • Do you have an instrument rating?
    • Check Yes or No (required).
    • If yes, is it current? - check Yes or No.
  • Medical Certificate Date (warning if left blank) - the date of your last medical exam. Students and sport pilots are not required to have a medical certificate or medical date. For all others, you can leave this blank and fill it in later. However, pilot and copilot will need to show their current medical certificate during Credentials Check-in. If licensed in another country, equivalent documentation.
  • Medical Class (warning if left blank) - same criteria as medical certificate date. Choose from 1st, 2nd, 3rd or BasicMed. If licensed in another country, equivalent documentation.

  • Are you a member of Women in Aviation? (optional) - you can choose Not a Member, Unaffiliated, or your Section/Chapter.

Biographies

The following information is required and will be used by Air Race Classic editors to create your personal bio in the Air Race Classic Official Program.  Because of space considerations, the online entries for these questions are pre-set to allow a maximum of 300 characters. But we want to know about you, so if you enter less than 250 characters, the form will encourage more!

What interests your fellow racers and race fans most are your experiences in aviation and the reasons why you race. Giving your credentials and a few entertaining anecdotes about flying and racing are a great way for readers to get to know you. Information about your career, professional credentials, hobbies and other interests will round out the picture. Listing your credentials and charitable involvement is fine; using the Air Race Classic program to promote your business or other organizations, either sectarian or political, is not.

Tell us about your other flight experiences, such as additional certificates, ratings like seaplane, tailwheel, helicopter, balloon, glider, jet. And tell us about other family members who are pilots.

  • Your occupation and career experience (minimum 140 characters)
  • Why do you race? (minimum 50 characters)
  • Humorous experience in prior Air Race Classic (no minimum)
  • Hobbies, interests or information about yourself that you would like to share (minimum 140 characters)

Emergency Contact

  • Name and address of an emergency contact (required)
  • Primary Emergency Phone (required)
  • Alternate Emergency Phone (optional)

Sponsors

You can list the names of up to 6 sponsors (optional). These names will be included with your bio in the program, space permitting.

Upload Files

Please upload the requested files, in pdf or jpg format. You can upload your documents as a single file, or individual files, whatever you find most convenient. Just make sure that they are legible, for review by Entry Administration.

  • Individual Racer Profile Photo (optional). Entry Administration would love to get to know you.
  • Documents (required):
    • Pilot License (front and back) (required)
    • Medical Certificate (if you have a medical certificate, then it is required)
    • Photo ID (required) - you can use your driver's license, passport, or other government-issued photo identification
    • Release of Liability
  • Logbook Endorsements (optional). Entry Administration may ask you to upload a copy of a logbook endorsement. This might be your recent instrument experience, or proof of currency, and depending on the airplane you will be racing, Entry Administration may ask you to upload a copy of your logbook endorsement showing tailwheel, multiengine, or other signoffs.
  • Safety Course Certificates (required). Once your Team is accepted, you will be asked to complete required Safety Courses. Use this area to upload your certificate(s) of completion.

Save, Review and Submit

You can save your information as often as you like. That way you can correct the information, or go off to find the information and return to resume your work. When you are ready, your account dashboard will show the "Review" button. The review process will display errors or warnings of possible missing/incorrect information, and you will have another opportunity to edit your registration. When there are no more errors (but perhaps some warnings and notifications of missing data), you can then "Submit" your registration.

***Make sure you have read the race Rules! Failure to abide by ARC rules and procedures may result in penalties, fines and/or disqualification.***

Once submitted, your registration will be reviewed by Entry Administration. She will either email questions/further instructions, or change your racer registration status to "Accepted." When your Racer registration has been "Accepted," the button for Team registration will become available in your dashboard.

Questions?

If you have questions, email ARC Entry Administration, and she will answer promptly.
