Retired U.S. Air Force pilot Kathy Hughes may be new to the air race, but she's no stranger to Canada.
Flying into Jack Garland Airport at 1519:32 aboard their 1963 straight-tailed Debonair, Hughes and her co-pilot Carrie Reinhardt were the first racers to make it to North Bay Wednesday for the 43rd annual Air Race Classic, a transcontinental event featuring a range of competitors from college students to veteran pilots, all of whom are women.
