Each time Martinsville graduate Katie Pratt takes to the air she is taken back by the breathtaking sights. And if she's not flying the plane, you can bet she's taking pictures of the view.
"It does't matter how many times I go up in the airplane, it's always breathtaking," Pratt said.
Pratt will compete in the Women's Air Race Classic this weekend, weather permitting.
"All the pioneer female aviators flew in this race back in the day," Pratt said.
She named a few, including Amelia Earhart and Pancho Barnes.
"It's not like the Reno Air Races where the airplanes are racing at the same time on a track where they're trying to beat each others times," Pratt said. "You're actually racing your own time."
